December Book And Tea Combo
Reading books and drinking tea has to be one of my absolute favorite pastimes since I can remember. I don't always have the time I'd like to sit and read, but when I do, I really appreciate it. Reading is not only a form of entertainment for me, it also offers an opportunity to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet. Reading is also helpful in improving writing, vocabulary, and speech, which can be helpful to anyone, whether you're in school or you work. This month's book and tea combo is Northanger Abby by Jane Austin (author of Pride and Prejudice) and peppermint tea.
Northanger Abby follows the adventures of a young heroine, Catherine, as she accompanies her well-to-do neighbors to the city of Bath for the winter season of balls, theater performances, and all sorts of social gatherings. The story continues with her new-found friendships, along with her new acquaintance with a handsome man with whom she finds herself strongly drawn to. The story takes a dark turn as Catherine accompanies the young man and his family to their home at Northanger Abby. I love this stories nod at the Gothic Romance genre, which is one of my favorite types of books to read. This was a very entertaining book, and also an easy read, especially considering it is written in proper English from the early 1800's. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys books such as Jane Eyre, Emma, Pride and Prejudice, or Rebecca, or even if you'd just like to give a new book a try.
I chose peppermint tea for the month of December because I think it works perfectly with the winter season and also tastes like the holidays! My favorite peppermint tea is by Celestial, and is absolutely delicious and refreshing.
Now it's your turn, brew some tea, cozy up by the fire and start reading!
