My Favorite Smoothie Recipes

My Favorite Smoothie Recipes

I love incorporating smoothies into my diet. They are a really quick and easy meal when I am short on time, and also the perfect way to sneak extra fruits and veggies into my diet. I try to have a smoothie for breakfast every morning, and if I am trying to lose weight, I will also replace my lunches with smoothies. Since these smoothies are made from all raw ingredients, they require more energy from the body to digest them, aiding in weight-loss efforts. These smoothies still offer a decent amount of energy from calories, which will keep you full throughout the day, making it easier to not snack in between meals, or overeat. Smoothies are also a great pre-workout meal, as they provide adequate energy, while not sitting heavy in the stomach. Check out some of my favorite recipes below!

Banana Pineapple Smoothie

I usually enjoy this smoothie for breakfast, as it has a sweet taste, and keeps me pretty full until lunch. I add bananas to almost all my smoothies, since they work as a great base, and are packed with nutrients and energy. The pineapple makes this taste very tropical and refreshing!

  • 3 bananas
  • 1/2 cup pineapple
  • 1 cup water or coconut water

Mix all ingredients in a blender until smooth and creamy. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Green Lunch Smoothie

The taste of this is very similar to my banana pineapple smoothie, although it has a much larger nutritional punch with the added greens. This is the perfect lunch smoothie as it is very filling, and will keep you satisfied until dinner. Don't let the spinach scare you off, the taste is so mild compared to that of the banana and pineapple, so you won't be able to taste it at all! This is the perfect way to get your greens in during the day.

  • 3-4 bananas
  • 2 cups spinach (you can also do a mixture of 1 cup spinach and 1 cup kale for more variety)
  • 1/2 cup pineapple
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Mix all ingredients in a blender until smooth and creamy. If using the kale option, additional blending may be required to achieve a smooth texture. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Chocolate Acai Smoothie

Who doesn't want to indulge in delicious chocolate for breakfast or lunch? Don't worry, there is no refined sugar in this recipe, so the chocolate is nothing but nutritional gold. The chocolate pairs so nicely with the tartness of the acai berry, making this smoothie taste more like a dessert than a meal. For a variation to this recipe, you can replace the regular bananas with frozen bananas to make ice cream, serving it in a bowl, topped with fresh fruit, shredded coconut, raw granola (find that recipe here), and cocoa nibs.

  • 1 tablespoon acai powder
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3-4 bananas (or frozen bananas for an ice cream variation)
  • 1 tablespoon flax seed
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 handful ice cubes (omit if making ice cream)

Mix all ingredients in a blender until smooth and creamy. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Variation: If making ice cream, blend all ingredients, continuously scraping down the sides of the blender with a rubber spatula. After a few minutes, you will see the mixture start to turn into an ice cream like consistency. Once the entire mixture resembles ice cream, scrap into a bowl and top with fresh fruit, unsweetened shredded coconut, cocoa nibs, and raw granola.

I hope you enjoyed these recipes and are able to incorporate them into your healthy diet! If you try them out, please comment below and let me know how you liked them, I'd love to hear from you!
